个人简介:

Dr. Tao HUANG received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He holds a master’s degree in Electric Power System and Automation and two bachelor’s degrees in Electric Power System and Automation and Finance from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China). He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Torino.

He has been an invited scientist to the Energy Security, Systems and Market Unit at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre, Institute for Energy and Transport to advance the modelling of distribution system operators, and of regional electricity system. He has been invited as a visiting scientist to the Durham University, UK. He was elected executive vice coordinator for the EU FP7 security project Securing the European Electricity Supply against Malicious and Accidental Threats (SESAME). Currently, he is also external International scientific advisor for the global energy interconnection research institute (Europe), state grid cooperation of China (former smart grid research institute Europe of state grid cooperation of China) and International scientific advisor for the state energy smart grid R&D center (SHANGHAI, China).

His research works include global system science and complex system science and their applications to electricity/energy systems, especially to electricity markets, policy decision making aid, energy security, critical infrastructure protection, emerging distribution grids (Smart grids), etc. He co-authored more than 30 publications, published in international journals, conferences, and book chapters on various topics related to power systems and electrical engineering.

主要内容:

The course is aimed at introducing some basic concepts on power system economics, including the reference market models and metrics along with some traditional and emerging methodologies in the simulation of electricity markets. The course discusses basic economic principles and their applications to electricity markets, considering the specificities of electricity as a commodity and the very peculiar impacts of the power network under which the market runs. Reference market arrangements and models will be introduced to describe conceptually electricity markets. Network impacts on the market performance, biding strategies as well as congestion management methods will be discussed. Approaches for electricity markets modelling and simulation, under network constraints, will be presented. For the pool electricity markets, they would be based on the concept of market equilibrium under the framework of game theory; while in the case of bilateral electricity markets we will consider evolutionary equilibrium under the framework of dynamic multi-agent systems. Applications and exercises related to simple cases will be proposed and discussed.
