Abstract
The seminar will provide an introduction to real-time simulation of power systems, starting from the concepts of EMT simulation and going through the real time solution of the system models. It will present the concepts of Hardware-In-the-Loop and Power Hardware-In-the-Loop.
Then, the seminar will present the real-time laboratory at the Energy Center of Politecnico di Torino and the setup used to study the impact of Vehicle to Grid on the distribution network.
A case study will be presented and discussed.
Personal Profile
Enrico Pons received the master degree in electrical engineering in 2004 and the Ph.D. in industrial safety and risk analysis in 2008 from Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy. He is currently associate professor at Politecnico di Torino, where he teaches electrical installations and safety. His research activities include complexity in energy systems, power systems security, real-time simulation of power systems, integration of renewable generation and storage in distribution networks, smart metering, traction electrification systems and electrical safety. He co-authored more than 80 publications, published in international conferences proceedings and in international journals. He is associate editor for Sustainable Energy Systems and Policies (specialty section of Frontiers in Energy Research).
