Abstract
Data represent an incredible resource to have a more comprehensive view of our society. As well as in power systems, data science techniques can be adopted in the field of network design, maintenance, and markets. Combining both traditional power system expertise and data analysis could provide interesting results in this field of research. Some techniques and examples of how this innovative approach can be relevant to our society will be presented during the seminar.
Personal Profile
Pietro Colella received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy in 2016. He is currently an assistant professor at the Energy Department Galileo Ferraris of Politecnico di Torino.
For many years, he has been teaching the lectures and laboratories of the course Fundamentals of Electrical Systems for the degree course in Electrical Engineering. Currently, he is the titular lecturer of the course Electrical Systems for Buildings for the master's degree course in Construction Engineering.
His research activities include railway and tramway systems, data analytics, and electrical safety. He has co-authored more than 40 publications in international journals and conference proceedings.
Within the Electrical Systems Group of the Galileo Ferraris Energy Department of the Polytechnic University of Turin, in its research activities, he collaborates closely with industry and in particular with operators of tramway and railway networks, and with the major European transmission grid operators. He is responsible or co-responsible for research and consulting contracts.
